Computing systems: from C & bit AND gate, now in its second edition, the purpose is to allow students to better understand the calculation as early in their college career, in order to give them a stronger foundation for the follow-up courses. This book is divided into two parts: (a) the basic structure of the computer, and (b) programming in high-level language and programming methodology.
To understand the computer, the authors introduce the LC-3 and provide to the students hands-on access to testing, they learned the LC-3 simulator. To develop their own understanding of programming and programming methodology, they use the C programming language. This book to the “motive” bottom-up approach, where students must first exposure to the big picture, and then at the bottom, the bottom-up to build their own knowledge. In each of the smaller units, followed by the same motive bottom up approach. Every step of the way, students learn new things that they already know. The authors believe that this approach to encourage a deeper understanding and watered down for storage needs. The students have developed a greater breadth of understanding, because they see how the various parts of the computer fit together.
